You are in a box canyon. The urgent signal “keep looking, hit the back space to continue the search for helpful information chummy” hits you loud and clear.
Can’t imagine anyone ever living in a small Maine town?
Or hard to fathom living in a city setting in Maine?
Those two camps of commentors tapped as a resource for anyone considering moving to Maine provide flawed jaded information.
Just boils down to what you are looking for at your age, what you consider quality of life.
Just like news outlets with a slant, a flavor you gravitate to and feel most in the audience share the same outlook.
It’s a lot better to stay open minded. Realizing not everyone thinks or feels the same and some
get way way more riled up on a slew of topics.
Be careful when you wanted into a Reddit group and make the statement
“Thinking of moving to rural Maine, needing feedback on what’s it like before we get there.”.
You can come away with lots of louder, more opinionated keyboard warriors personal reviews screaming in 60 point helvetica DON’T DO IT.
Coming away with the strong impression small Maine town living is a bad idea. Everything is dying and please… “the last guy or gal out of town, don’t forget to shut off the lights before leaving”.
How come you don’t hear folks who love the small town Maine living experience jumping in to share the good news in droves?
Maybe because they are busy working, volunteering, no time to weigh in on the water cooler grape vine. Or realize it’s like coming in off the dusty trail through a set of saloon doors into a dark smelly room with most of the patrons wearing side arms.
Would you want to receive the flack or is it worth it defending why you love where you live in Maine that is big, mostly rural?
The best course of action is be welcoming, supportive and stay positive about the small town Maine experience.
Encourage folks online and on the street to try it out for yourself.
And share what are your expectation and why you are moving, what you hope to receive for an experience.
